ONE SHOW CLOSES, ANOTHER BEGINS

CINDERELLA has closed, the set is gone, the props stored, the costumes are being cleaned… it’s official, it’s over! What a wild run, amazing crowds, amazing people on stage and off, it just couldn’t have been a better time. So many people did such a great job, I can’t begin to name them all here so I won’t try, I hope you know that if you read this your efforts did NOT go unnoticed! On behalf of the board I would like to thank every cast and crew member for their contributions to the show , no matter how small you thought they were, they helped make it a critical and financial success. So until we met again, which will be June 10, as FCT has once again been chosen to open the Hayes Presidential Center Veranda Concert Series with an evening of vocal selections from CINDERELLA, I wish you a “happy ever after!”
The theatre doesn’t stay quite for long though, before the set strike was even complete, Teen Theatre’s new cast of Disney’s BEAUTY AND THE BEAST began rehearsals, tonight a quick round of introductions, and a read through was followed by some singing. Here’s a shot of some of the cast as Randy reviews the plan for the upcoming week and Darla prepares to begin bring the already sounding great voices to their fullest potential, striving for the best, come along and “be our guest”.

ONE TO GO

With just one more performance of CINDERELLA to go, I have to reflect back a bit on the success of this great show. It has been such a thrill to see so many new faces mixed together with friendly familiar ones at the theatre. With another sold out house for the final performance it should nearly set some records for high attendance for a 6 show run, I’ll wait to see how all the final numbers come together to make any claims, regardless, it has been very well received by the general public and their support has been amazing. I have heard form so many how nice this entire FCT experience has been, the new cast members and their families have been outstanding, thanks so much to everybody that pitched in and brought (or bought) cookies, worked refreshments, ushered, ran the 50/50 drawing, and in general supported the FCT family in so many ways. The teens have been great, the little kids have been fun to see on stage, many for their first time and the “old” regulars always come through and make for a enjoyable night of entertainment.
As sure as the final bows will be taken, some tears will be shed, that’s all part of the game, we have enjoyed it while it lasted but all good things do come to an end. While we will never get the opportunity to experience this show again or at least not in exactly the same way, we will take with us our memories and they will last forever.
I have often thought of a production as a great day at the beach with friends and building an amazing sand castle. Sometimes it’s a long rough and bumpy road even getting to the beach, then come the long hot hours building the castle just like you have dreamed of. Along the way some disasters occur as towers fall but they can be rebuilt with the help of your friends and their talents.but As you gaze and study the creation before you it looks good but not good enough, you tweak it more and more until you decide that finally, its the best on the beach. You enjoy every minute of sharing it with your friends. As the sun reaches its highest point many other beach-goers admire your work, and you bask in the heat of the sun and the glory of your accomplishment. When the sun begins to set, you know that you eventually will have to go home, and leave the perfect day and beautiful castle behind. You say your good-byes to the surf, the shells and the sand, the high tide begins to creep in and slowly undo your masterpiece. Once you’re prepared to leave and you are exhausted from the fun and the work, you turn around to take one last look and you see a flat section of beach where your castle once stood, much like the empty stage where once the set had stood tall and colorful now it has been completely struck and is cold and bare and awaits the next castle for it to take its moment in the sun.
The bright part in one show ending is another is always around the corner. For the teens its the July production of Disney’s BRAUTY AND THE BEAST, trust me here, I know I will be writing quite a lot about what is promising to be a outstanding show, the cast and crew.. well I speak for myself are very excited about getting started right away so we can make this one of the biggest and best teen shows ever!

STANDING ROOM ONLY

Well this feels good, normally I like to write about how everybody needs to come out to FCT and see the current show.. well , maybe you listened! I’m very happy to announce that the final 3 shows for CINDERELLA are essentially SOLD OUT, only a few single seats are left for Friday and Sunday, and Saturday is very close behind, so although I don’t want to discourage any one else from trying to get into to see the show, I’ll be honest, it’s going to be very difficult or near impossible. You can check with a very busy MJ in the Box Office to see what’s still available. Although it will no doubt be kind of hectic I think it’s just great, a great big world of thanks to everybody for their support! It should be a very exciting weekend!
