Kiss Me, Kate by… Samuel and Bella Spewack, Music and Lyrics by Cole Porter.
‘Kiss Me, Kate’ is a 1948 Tony-Award-winning musical with music and lyrics by Cole Porter. The story involves the production of a musical version of William Shakespeare’s The Taming of the Shrew and the conflict on and off-stage between Fred Graham, the show’s director, producer, and star, and his leading lady, his ex-wife Lilli Vanessi. A secondary romance concerns Lois Lane, the actress playing Bianca, and her gambler boyfriend, Bill, who runs afoul with some gangsters.  (Description from Wikipedia) Musical numbers include: “Another Op’nin’, Another Show”, “Wunderbar”, “Why Can’t You Behave?”, “So In Love With You Am I”, “Too Darn Hot!”, “Were Thine That Special Face”, “Brush Up Your Shakespeare”, and many more!  FCT Teen Theatre is for teens age 13 through 19.  Performance dates will be Thursday July 12 through Sunday July 15.
