“Moon Over the Brewery” by Bruce Graham

Foos, Phillips
Randolph (Cyrus Foos) and Amanda (Kaitlyn Phillips) scheme.

What do a mailman, a waitress, a teenager, a pirate, and a samurai have in common?  Come to see “Moon Over the Brewery” to find out.  Opening January 16th, this show includes all of the above, plus a suave guy in a white suit.

This comedic drama is the story of a mother and daughter who find themselves at odds with each other over what their future will be.  Thirteen-year-old Amanda turns to her long-time imaginary friend, Randolph, while her mother Miriam turns to Warren, a mailman she met at the diner she works at.  Can three lonely people and that imaginary friend find a way out of loneliness and into a good life together?

The role of Miriam, a waitress/artist, will be portrayed by Melissa Joseph of Fremont.  Her precocious daughter Amanda will be played by Kaitlyn Phillips, 17, of Woodville.  Tim Bolton of Fremont and Cyrus Foos, 18, of Gibsonburg have been cast in the roles of Walter, Miriam’s boyfriend, and Randolph, Amanda’s childhood imaginary friend, respectively.

While none are brand new to the FCT stage, this represents debut principal roles for both Phillips and Joseph.  Bolton has appeared in over 50 roles at FCT, most recently as John in “Be My Baby” in November 2014.  Foos has been appearing at FCT since a small child, and last appeared as “Donkey” in FCTT’s production of Shrek the Musical in July 2014.

In addition to the four actors, a great deal of original artwork will be seen onstage in this production.  Director Bower and costumer Sue Stotz designed and pieced the quilt, “Miriam’s Dream,” which will be featured in the show and then raffled off at the close of the production for $5.00 per ticket.  In addition, Bower’s husband Michael has been busy creating the many paintings which will be displayed on set.

Produced with permission from Dramatists Play Service, Inc., “Moon Over the Brewery” will be presented January 16-18 and 23-25, 2015, with curtain time at 8:00 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, 2:00 p.m. on Sundays.  Tickets are $10.00 for Seniors and Students with ID, and $12.00 for Adults.
