ONE WEEK COUNTDOWN

With just one week until opening night things are looking pretty good. There is still tons of work to be done on what I am saying is my most complicated but hopefully most beautiful set to date. I have so many details I want to add to every inch of the castle and village I just hope I can squeeze them all in. This weekend should just be crazy, I have my lists all made, a lot of painting mostly, in all kinds of categories from easy, semi-skilled and skilled. Then I have a long list that only I want to handle, guess that’s just the control freak or artist in me that knows exactly how I see it in my head and feel I can only bring it to life.
I only have one new pic to post here, as we were experimenting with the smoke effect the other night John C snapped this pic that we all were surprised turned out as it did, it will give you a good idea of how the transformation scene is going to play out.

I know I will be way too busy all weekend to get many more posts up here or pics so after Sundays double tech I will have a lot more.

END OF LOOONG WEEKEND

Not much time or energy to write the adventures of sunday but I will share just a few pics of the progress being done on the set. For the latest costume fitting pics, see the teen BATB gallery.

this first pic is a close up of one of the 3 rose stained glass windows for the Beast’s castle.

here you can see what it will look like in the wall unit, (still to be finished)

and here is the set as it is today, all of the individual pieces are cut out and painted and are all over as they await being put together like a giant puzzle. Tim surveys the brand new steps that had to replace the old units to accomodate the giant shoes of some of the characters as they were unable to climb the standard size steps that were originally planned .

it should all go together pretty fast now so stay tuned for more progress shots..

and now ON WITH THE SHOW!

SENSATIONAL SATURDAY

What a crazy and exciting day at FCT, before I arrived at 10 AM, the Haase family and about a dozen teens were already working on the float for the 4 TH of July parade. With a couple of columns from the set, one of the stained glass rose windows, the fountain and a bench along with lots of hand made flowers and vines it just looked wonderful, a big thanks to all that helped in even the smallest way, I heard we got many compliments on the float along the parade route.
the FCTT prepare to promote Beauty and the Beast

some of the main characters ride in the parade on the FCTT float
Nick and Kayla sit in front of the fountain on the FCTT float
Meanwhile, painting, stone carving, and general cleaning was happening all over the theatre. Kirsten painted castle rocks, while PJ works on champagne bottles.

in addition to all the set construction and parade excitement, the cast also got to continue to try on a few more of their costumes, be sure to check out the web site galleries, and look in the teen page for the Beauty and the Beast section. As more and more get fitted I will try to share them there for all to get a sneak peek.
