wow!! PICS!!

As promised, a few pics from the “new greenroom” project.

the men’s side new doorway. These new narrower doorways that will again get curtains covering them will allow a small amout but much needed wall, hook or storage space on the inside of the dressing areas and eliminate the traffic jams that can often occur when someone is trying to get in ot out of the dressing areas while people are seated at the mirrors, more privacy is also going to be enjoyed.

Jim W continues to apply the ” mud”… More pics and improvements to come!

EXCITED!

WOW!!! what a GREAT rehearsal we had tonight, I guess the “less then 2 weeks before press dress” speech I made gave them a little boost! There is hope!.. no, I always knew, that but sometimes it just helps to see the lines becoming lively, the choreography snapping together, characters developing and everybody working towards ..perfection!
The opening number especially is shaping up, now for those of you that aren’t that familiar with the show, and without giving away too much, the first musical number has the entire cast in a more than ten minute production number that not only includes singing and dancing, but dialogue, sound cues, prop handling, costume changes and multiple exits and entrances. AAAAHHH!! good thing I’m already bald or that alone might cause me to pull a few out! So it is understandable that it might take a little more time to pull together than some of the solos, which BTW are really sounding good, Kayla is a likely front runner right now for stealing a few scenes, but the rest of the cast has every intention on getting their time in the spotlight too, I’m sure!
GREEN ROOM UPDATE
I took some pictures today.. but left my camera at the theatre so I’ll try to get them posted real soon, Jim W has been dry walling and mudding up a storm this week on the “new” green room! If you get a chance stop on out and see the progress or just wait a bit until more of its done and really be blown away, its not going to be any bigger , sorry to say, but we are going to try to achieve more space to utilize. It should be warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer and in general more comfortable and A LOT more attractive. Of course I have encountered a few negative comments on the plans so far, some from people who haven’t even seen it. As with any time you are trying to do something that can have varied opinions on artistic or design interpretation, you will get as many ideas as you have people giving them. I’d say for more than 10 years now we have talked and talked and talked about upgrading the single ugliest and in general disgusting place in the building, now.. finally.. we are making progress, progress that has been a long time coming and with only the goal to improve FCT for our members and even the visitors who occasionally stop back there. For right now, some of the structural needs that have to be dealt with are first on the list of things to do.. new drywall, patching holes, a new bright white clean ceiling, some upgraded lighting and a cleanable floor. Thanks to the Teen Theatre for backing this project as their traditional yearly gift to FCT. More to come as ” work continues”

That time…

No matter how hard you try to avoid it…. once a month, it comes around…yes, its “that time of the month again”……NO,NO, NOT THAT!!! …. its board meeting time again!! Every third Tuesday, its what we board members live for ..HA HA HA, no , seriously we had a board meeting tonight and unlike so many of the “famous” or “infamous” meetings we have had over the years….it went pretty well, we only shared one cake recipe, no, seriously, we did! Thanks to Judy for the scripture cake, yummy! We stayed on topic I’d say at least 50% of the time, and Chairperson Sue is doing a great job!
Pete gave a play reading committee report tonight and even though the 08-09 season hasn’t even started yet it’s not to soon to start thinking about 09-10, join the group of readers and debaters, get some shows of your picking put on “the list” and start thinking about what part you can play in the up-coming season, and I don’t mean what role you can get on stage but what you can do to make the 54th season one of the best ever, how about supporting a new musical or a selection from American classic theatre. Meetings that are open to everyone are the 2nd Tues. of every month at the theatre, hope to see you there!
It was mentioned that I have pledged to post more on the blog, so I’m taking a few minutes of time to recap the last few days around FCT.
Something’s Afoot rehearsals are going well, the lines are starting to come easier and we are now adding the “bits” that are going to make this show so fun to watch. You may have to see it more than once to catch all the subtle craziness I can add. Sure I would love to have the entire cast at every rehearsal, but that’s just not the way it seems to work anymore, we are all very busy people and so that’s why I am grateful for the time and energy they put into the time that they are there. We have 2 weeks before press dress yet and I’ve seen wonderful things happen in 24 hours so I think they will all come together and pull off one of the funniest and most entertaining shows FCT has produced in alooong time!
There is still much to be done, the list is long, but it sure is fun, if I start to get cranky soon, it’s because I know I’m going to be tired, but I wouldn’t trade it for much in the world! I’m not officially to the “I don’t care” stage yet , so that’s a good sign.
If there is one thing that I think we really need is just more people doing more jobs to make the list of “to- do’s” smaller. Even one hour, once a week from a few more warm bodies would be such a great help, think about it and let me know when you can help the cause and join the fun!
Well, my schedule is kind of tight until Oct. 3rd so I better get some rest, tomorrow brings more rehearsal and tech work galore!
