GYPSY MAY 1-3, 8-10

Gypsy Square

FCT, Director Diana Cepeda, and Musical Director Bob Bell announce the upcoming production of “Gypsy,” a musical by Arthur Laurents, Stephen Sondheim, and Jule Styne. “Gypsy” is based loosely on the memoirs of famous striptease artist Gypsy Rose Lee.

Mama Rose and her two daughters are working the dying vaudeville circuit in the 1930s. Rose’s obsession with making her daughter June a star leaves her eldest daughter, Louise, feeling overlooked and forgotten. When June leaves the act to pursue a career outside of vaudeville, and away from her mother’s domineering nature, Rose pins her hopes for fame on Louise. In a last ditch effort to make it big, and earn her mother’s love, Louise begins a career in burlesque. She finds success, and Rose’s dreams have finally come true…but at what cost?
